Gator Beach is a FREE alligator
exhibit developed in May 2002 using the pond in front of Fudpucker's
of Destin to house 80 live alligators. The only FREE alligator exhibit
in the area, Gator Beach has been entertaining and educating young
and old alike since 2002.
In August 2003 Gator Beach acquired a very special, very rare alligator, “Mellow
Yellow”. Mellow Yellow received her name from her color: alligators
are typically dark colored. However, Mellow Yellow has yellow skin
with black stripes, yellow eyes and yellow claws.
Winter 2003/2004 Gator Beach underwent renovation to add educational
exhibits for the public. In July 2004 Gator Beach acquired additional
alligators bringing the total number of alligators to 100!
Fall 2004 gator handlers from Gator Beach developed a FREE educational
program for the area schools and hosted numerous field trips consisting
of students from ages 4-16. While always maintaining entertainment
value, Gator Beach is now viewed as an educational family adventure.
Currently, Gator Beach is the region's only FREE alligator
attraction. Gator Beach is located in front of Fudpucker's Restaurant
in Destin , FL. |
